Hey! My name is Téa Mottolese and I am a dedicated, hardworking student musician and recording engineer with a passion for high-quality performance in both the live room and the control room. Originally from New York, I attended Emma Willard School, where my study of audio engineering began through the Signature program. The Signature program provided me with the opportunity to complete a capstone project that allowed for deep exploration of a personal passion that I had for music and my increasing interest in audio engineering.
My passion for music was born in the same moment that I was; I grew up in and around music influences. My father plays jazz piano and I have grown up listening to the combined melodies of his voice and his hands, and began learning to play my first of three instruments at the age of three. Born in the digital age, I also learned to play with computers and I was intrigued by their instant ability to record, process, change and reproduce information—especially music. It was through my play that I discovered that technology and music are inextricably linked, just as music and my own life are inextricably linked, and that my involvement in the music industry would be compulsory in my professional life.
I now attend the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University where I am earning a Bachelor of Music in Classical Saxophone Performance, a Bachelor of Music in Recording Arts and Sciences, and a Master of Arts in Acoustics. I have decided to continue my blog for the purpose of documenting my progress as a musician, engineer, and acoustician, as well as for the purpose of educating and inspiring others to pursue their passions.
